Leg & Facial Veins

Varicose Leg Veins

An ambulatory phlebectomy is the preferred treatment for large, bulging veins. Little incisions are made along the protruding vein where it can then be severed and tied. Over time, the collapsed vein is re-absorbed by the body leaving the surface smooth. This technique offers wonderful results and is performed by Dr. Seitz with just local anesthesia. Only minimally invasive, the patient is able to return home immediately following the procedure. The next 24 hours are spent quietly with the legs elevated. This is followed by 6 weeks wearing support hose but with normal activity.

Spider Leg Veins

Sclerotherapy for spider veins involves an injected solution causing the veins to collapse and fade from view. The procedure is also performed by Dr. Seitz and typically improves not only the cosmetic appearance but any associated symptoms such as aching, heaviness and itching as well. Small blushing veins on the legs are best treated with the YAG laser. In this treatment, the pigmented areas are minimized via the absorption of laser light.

Facial Veins

Blush redness of the face, caused by mats of very small veins, is treated with the IPL system. Here wavelengths of light are absorbed by pigmented areas causing the veins to disappear. Larger facial veins respond to the focused energy of the YAG laser. Again, the pigment absorbs the energy, which damages the vessel and allows it to be naturally reabsorbed by the body.
